He was granted a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Cognitive Science) from Brandeis University, creating a method for analyzing conversation to produce efficient groupware. He also writes science fiction and fantasy; his novel Duplicate came out in 2008, and a forthcoming novel is scheduled to be released in mid-2013.
