Susan L. Hura, Ph.D. is the founder of SpeechUsability, a consultancy focusing on improving the user experience by incorporating user-centered design practices in speech technology projects. Susan founded the usability program at Intervoice as their head of User Experience and is a member of the board of directors of AVIOS.
Melanie D. Polkosky, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is a human factors psychologist/senior engineer and consultant at IBM, specializing in speech, multimodal, and handheld technology design and user experience. She also provides human factors design and research support for the Center for Multimedia Arts/Center for the Study of Rhetoric and Applied Communication at the University of Memphis.
Juan E. Gilbert is a professor and chair of the Human-Centered Computing Division in the School of Computing at Clemson University. His research interests are accessibility, usability, advanced learning technologies, and voting technologies. Dr. Gilbert is the Prime III project advisor. He has a B.S. in Systems Analysis from Miami University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Cincinnati.
